Just two an a half weeks ago a wrote a post about Spanish chef Elena Arzak, a top chef and number 40 on Gourmet Online’s list of “50 Women Game Changers.” Other food critics give her more credit. Today, Veuve Clicquot, the prestigious champagne company in Reims, France, named her “The World’s Best Female Chef.” Elena was surprised and said, “I am happy for Arzak, the restaurant, my father and my family…4 generations! I remember when my grandmother was cooking and how much of an inspiration she was. With this title, I think of her even more.”
Last year, the first year of the award, went to Anne-Sophie Pic.
